Andy K - The Beginning

The Andy K & Friends began as an idea in 1999 between two brothers to take a day to celebrate the life and love of a great man, their father, Andrew Kavanansky.

In the beginning, the day was planned around a few rounds of golf on a Saturday in the fall. For 8 straight years it rained, bringing the get together from the links to a local venue. Each year more people would show up to this informal get together. A little money was raised each year and then donated to people in the community.

Eventually the game of golf was given up because the bad weather was inevitable. Perhaps a sign from above that the Fortescue brothers were onto something bigger than just guys playing golf.

Over the years word spread about this fun night and the crowd began to grow.  What started out as a handful of friends and family getting together to spend the day enjoying each other's company and trying to do a little good for the community has now evolved into a foundation that has touched the lives of hundreds of people.
